Discovery is everything. Its learning, its travelling. Its loving. Its failing and then trying again.

When we actively seek out the life we are meant to live, by just being, by doing, we discover who we are.

I aim to be more present in my own life. I yearn to travel more, learn more, love more.

Discovering who I am is the first step.

In the past I have faltered when I sought to know who I was, it built of feelings of worthlessness, laziness, nothingness. I thought by trying to get to know me I was being selfish and that I wasn’t even worth it. Mindlessly walking through life, watching tv, eating bad food, drinking, and doing anything that would take my mind off the hard question of life. Who am I?

But at a point, you wonder, what else is out there? Am I doing what I want? Am I happy? Do I feel fulfilled?

Asking these questions and really thinking about the answers is tough. Its hard to look at your life and say, it’s not what it could be. It’s hard to realize you’ve wasted time, in self-doubt and idleness, because you were too afraid to seek out what you wanted and to find the person you were meant to be.

But it’s also relieving to realize that you are here, asking yourself these questions, and acknowledging your past mistakes. You can take the experience and grow from it. Once you know what you were doing, or not doing, before, you can turn on the switch and change your mindset and change your life.

Discovery, after all, is this. It’s learning that you weren’t in the right place before, but that you have the tools to change it now. Discovering who you are, asking yourself who you are, that is where you start. This is how you change your life and find the meaning that you seek.

So, for me, that’s what I’ll do. I will start, I will ask myself who I am, and be brave enough to find out. I will discover who I am.
